Well done to those Beavers who attended the Lawn Bowls Competition in Onchan Park on Saturday 7 July. It was a slightly misty start, but that didn’t hinder performance or enjoyment.
Eight Beavers from both the 2nd Onchan Tuesday Colony and the 2nd Onchan Thursday Colony played two rounds of Lawn Bowls Activities – nearest the jack, in between the cones, hitting the marker etc. It was great fun and really well organised by volunteers and members of the Onchan Lawn Bowls Club in Onchan Park.
Once the two rounds had been played, two Beavers from each Colony with the highest scores then played against each other in the Final. Taylor and Oliver from the Tuesday Colony and Malane and Jayden from the Thursday Colony. They all completed one round of Activities – it was very close but the winner by one point was Oliver from the 2nd Onchan Tuesday Colony with Malane from the Thursday Colony in second place.
Oliver received the Lawn Bowls Beaver Trophy 2018 from Bev Hewson (Assistant Island Commissioner – Beavers), and everyone taking part received medals. It was a lovely morning, supported by family members. Thank you very much to the Lawn Bowls Club for hosting the group and they hope to be back next year to do it all again.Tags: Beavers, 2nd Onchan
