On Sunday, 28th of June 158 Beaver Scouts boarded the steam railway ready for a fun filled afternoon at Poulsom Park in Castletown. Beavers from the group in Port Erin took the train from the South while the ones from the North boarded in Douglas. It was quickly apparent that every one of them was excited. The weather cleared up just before the Beavers arrived at Douglas and Port Erin station.
After having lunch when arriving at the park they had a great afternoon full of activities such as a scavenger hunt, cricket and rounders.
Activities, trips and making friends are all part of what makes Beavers so much fun for girls and boys. “I’m looking forward to sitting with my friends on the train,” Charlie (7) from Peel excitedly said.
“All the Beavers are really, really excited,” said Christine Stewart from 3rd Peel. “My son’s been sitting in the car since 10:00 am and I said, ‘no, it’s not time to go yet.’” The train didn’t leave until noon.
It was an extra special day for Darwin Gilmore (6) from Douglas. Before 1st Douglas Beavers boarded the train Darwin was invested as a Beaver. On the platform he made his Beaver promise in the presence of the rest of the Colony. Darwin then travelled to Castletown as a Beaver Scout.
In the end everyone had a fantastic time.
